Summary : Martinique, 18th century. For having tried to escape for the third time with his wife and child, Mathieu, a slave working on a sugar cane plantation, is sentenced to death. However, the judge offers him a way out on the condition that he agrees to leave for Canada to work as an executioner. Having no other choice, the young man accepts.
